With regard to LMU and Occidental to a certain extent, but more so with regard to Smith, LMU is not as "prestigious" or highly ranked. My D was admitted to Occidental and Smith, both of which I believe are LAC's, while LMU is a university, and smaller. I am guilty myself of not fully taking advantage of what was offered my first semester, but having been there for a year now, I have found so many things that I love and have finally realized I am surrounded by opportunites that have helped make me a better person. We aren't "typical" -- and that's what we all love about it. However it's reputation has changed and anyone would be impressed with the caliber of education that LMU offers today. I want to be a psych major but do the pre-med track. The M-School is a one-of-a-kind, two-year program at LMU built for the next generation of creative storytellers, innovators, and strategists. However, if you don't intend on taking theology or philosophy courses then you shouldn't attend this school. From frats to dorm parties, you are set! LMU is a liberal arts college and people here feel free to express themselves in the way they dress. The campus is beautiful, facilities are top notch (no exagerration), people are a little more chill (than USC and UCLA), internship opportunities abound, girls are plentiful. Or Smith College. Hello all, so I just got into LMU and i absolutely LOVED it when I visited out of all the schools I applied to. pre-med track are both great. LMU is set up for a student's success, but the student has to be willing to want to succeed. This student body is very motivated, and at times demanding of it's student to stay active in their community. I was worried about the same thing as you and I'm also pre med!
